Start Where You Are

Image for: Start Where You Are

Not where you wish you were. Not where you planned to be by now. Not where you were before things got complicated. Just: where you actually are, right now, on this particular Monday morning in March.

We have this habit of waiting for perfect conditions to begin. When I’m more rested. When the project is cleaner. When I’ve figured out the plan. But perfect conditions are mostly a story we tell to delay the discomfort of starting.

Here’s the truth: you have everything you need to begin. Not everything you need to finish — just to begin. And beginning is the only part that’s required right now.

Commit to ten percent. Just ten percent of whatever feels overwhelming. Start from where you actually are. The rest can take care of itself once you’re moving.

You don’t have to be ready. You just have to begin.

What’s the one thing you’ve been waiting to feel ready for?
