The Day Before the Long Weekend
Tomorrow kicks off the Fourth of July weekend, which means today has that particular Thursday-before-a-holiday hum to it. Half of everyone is mentally already at the lake. The other half is trying to clear the deck so they can get there.
I want to say something gentle about the rush to wrap things up before a break: you don’t have to finish everything. You really don’t. The myth of arriving at a long weekend with a completely clear plate is exactly that — a myth. Nobody does it. The work will still be there Monday, and it will be fine.
So do the Hidden Win Inventory a day early today. What did you actually get done this week? Give yourself credit for it, then let the rest wait. A long weekend is worth more when you arrive at it without dragging an invisible pile of guilt behind you.
You don’t have to finish everything before the break. Nobody does. Arrive without the guilt.
What’s one thing you can consciously decide to leave for next week so you can actually enjoy the weekend?
