The Late-August Wednesday
Wednesday. Late August now, and the middle of the week lands a little differently this time of year. The summer looseness is still around, but the world is starting to reorganize itself — school supplies in the stores, schedules firming up, the general sense of a gear about to shift.
Transitions like this are exactly when the Wednesday Check-In earns its keep. In stable stretches, you can coast on routine. In shifting stretches, you need to actually look at the instruments. So: How are you doing with the shift? What do you need as the season starts to turn? What can you set down before the fall gear engages?
And one more, specific to late August: what part of summer-you do you want to keep? The looseness, the porch sits, the long walks, the easier pace — some of that can come with you into fall, if you decide on purpose to bring it.
