The Screen Door Friday
There’s a particular sound I associate with good Fridays in May: the screen door. The way it creaks open and swings shut with that hollow, specific clap. It’s the sound of inside and outside being connected. Of the day being let in.
I want today to be a screen door Friday for you. Not sealed off and climate-controlled. A little open. A little connected to whatever’s actually happening out there — the light, the warmth, the general aliveness of mid-May.
Before the weekend fully starts, take a moment to be somewhere the outside can reach you. A porch, a park, a window with the screen in. Let the week finish in some actual air.
Then close it gently behind you. The week is done. The weekend is on the other side of the screen door. Walk through.

What’s your version of the screen door Friday — the ritual that signals the week is actually done?
