Welcome to September
September 1st. A Tuesday. And the year’s great gear-shift begins.
September has always felt like the second January to me. Something about the school-year rhythm never leaves us — the sharpened pencils, the new notebooks, the sense that this is when things start fresh. Even decades removed from any classroom, the first of September carries that back-to-it energy. The year straightens its posture a little.
And here’s the thing I love about a September that starts on a Tuesday: it starts on consistency day. Not the dramatic fresh start of a Monday — the quieter question of a Tuesday. Can you show up again? Can you keep going? That’s actually the perfect opening question for fall, which is a season built more on steadiness than on sparkle.
Thirty days ahead. Let’s begin them the Tuesday way: not with fireworks, just by showing up.
September is the second January. But it starts on a Tuesday — so begin it the Tuesday way. Just show up.
What does your version of a September fresh start look like?
