Open the Windows
Here’s a small Saturday invitation: open the windows today.
If the weather where you are will allow it — and May is usually generous about this — just open them. Let the air that’s been outside come inside for a while. The smell of it. The sound of whatever’s happening on your street, the birds doing their morning announcements, the general aliveness of a May Saturday.
There’s something about fresh air moving through a closed space that does quiet work on the mood. It’s not dramatic. It doesn’t fix anything. But it changes the feeling of a room in a way that’s worth almost no effort and costs exactly nothing.
Maple has very strong opinions about open windows, all of them positive. She considers this a five-star amenity. She may be onto something.
Open the windows. Let May in.
Let May in. Sometimes that’s the whole plan and it’s enough.
