Midweek in Midsummer

Image for: Midweek in Midsummer

Here’s a thing I’ve noticed about June Wednesdays specifically: people are nicer. Measurably. The checkout line moves with less tension. The driver who would have honked in February just lets it go. Someone holds a door longer than necessary and gives you a small nod, like we’re all in this together and today, anyway, that feels true.

I think it’s the light. I think long days and warm air do something real to people. The sun being up at seven in the evening creates a kind of generosity of mood that shorter, colder days quietly steal away.

Whatever the cause: lean into it today. Let the summer ease work on you. Be the version of yourself who has a little extra patience available, a little more room for other people’s slowness or difficulty. The light is long. You can afford to be generous today.

Do you notice any difference in how you feel and act in summer compared to winter?
