The Last Friday of June
Last Friday of June. Last workweek Friday before July. Tomorrow is practically July already, and if that doesn’t make this feel like a specific kind of Friday, I don’t know what will.
Summer Fridays have their own texture. The week wants to end earlier than it technically does. There’s a looseness in the air, an understanding that productivity has limits and the porch is right there and it’s warm. I’m not going to fight that today. I’m going to say: if you can leave a little early, leave a little early. If you can do the last thing outside, do the last thing outside. If the week has been good, close it with something that feels like a celebration of that. If the week has been hard, close it with something that feels like grace.
Either way: close it. Set it down. Let June be complete.
If it was a good week, close with celebration. If it was hard, close with grace. Either way, close it.
What’s your ideal way to close out a summer Friday?
