The Middle of the Middle Month
Wednesday. The middle of the week, the middle of September — which is itself the middle month of the year’s second half. If you’re keeping score, that’s three nested middles, and I’ve built an entire philosophy on the idea that the middle is where you actually live.
So let’s practice living here. The Wednesday Check-In, middle-flavored: How’s your energy holding as the fall pace settles in? What needs tending before it becomes a problem — the sleep, the meals, the small maintenance of a person? And what’s one thing you can appreciate about right now — not the summer behind you, not the holidays ahead, this exact unremarkable stretch of September?
There’s always something. The light this week is doing that amber slanting thing. The evenings are cool enough for open windows. The year is in one of its most comfortable rooms right now, honestly. Notice it while you’re in it.
