The Day After Balance

Wednesday. The first full day of fall, and the first day the dark is officially gaining. From here to late December, every day is a few minutes shorter than the last.

I bring this up on a Wednesday because it pairs with something I believe about middles and endings: knowing where you are in a cycle changes how you spend it. The light is leaving slowly — which means the light you have is worth spending on purpose. The morning walk while the mornings are still bright. The lunch outside while outside is still an option. The golden late afternoons, which fall does better than any other season anyway.

So today’s check-in has a seasonal edition: How are you doing? What do you need? And — new for fall — how are you spending the light? Not anxiously. Deliberately. The way you’d spend anything precious and slowly diminishing: with attention, and without waste.

The light is leaving slowly — which means the light you have is worth spending on purpose.

How will you spend today’s light deliberately?
