Maple’s Guide to a Perfect Saturday

Image for: Maple's Guide to a Perfect Saturday

I have observed Maple closely over many Saturdays, and I believe she has things figured out in a way I find difficult to argue with.

Her approach, as best I can document it: sleep in a patch of sunlight until you feel ready to move. Eat with genuine enthusiasm and zero guilt. Go outside and fully commit to being outside — smell everything, feel the air, don’t think about what comes next. Come back in. Find a good spot. Nap. Greet everyone who arrives as though their presence is the best thing that’s happened all day. Find something worth getting excited about, even if it’s a squirrel. Repeat as needed.

There’s a whole philosophy in there. Full presence. Real rest. Uncomplicated joy. Maple doesn’t wonder if she’s earned her Saturday. She doesn’t check the to-do list before settling into the sunbeam.

We could take some notes.

Rest like you mean it. Be present like Maple is present.

What would your ideal Saturday look like if you gave yourself full permission to enjoy it?
