April, You Did Good
Last day of April. Last Thursday. Let’s do what we do on Thursdays and count the things.
Thirty days. You made it through thirty days of a month that started cold and a little uncertain and is ending warm and green and alive with things that were underground when it began. Thirty days of the ordinary effort. The showing up. The small reliabilities. The moments when you were kind when you didn’t have to be. The moments when you were kind to yourself when the inner critic was being loud.
April gave you rain and it gave you light. It gave you Tax Day and Earth Day and Easter and National Pet Day. It gave you Mondays and at least one Wednesday that ran on fumes. And you got through all of it.
Tonight, acknowledge that. Say it out loud if you need to: I got through April. And May gets the person who did.
May gets the person who made it through April. That person is better than they know.
What’s one word that sums up what April was for you?
