The First Monday of August
Kris Evergreen here. First Monday of August, and the working month begins properly today.
Here’s something I’ve noticed about August Mondays: they carry a strange double energy. On one hand, it’s still summer — the vacation photos are still coming in, the pace is still loose. On the other hand, there’s a faint back-to-business hum starting underneath everything. September is visible on the horizon now, and part of your brain has already started planning for it.
My advice: don’t let September steal August. The planning brain always wants to live in the next thing. But you have a full month of summer left, and it deserves your actual presence, not just your leftover attention.
Start this week the way you’d want to remember it. Begin gently. Take the ten percent. And stay here, in August, while August is happening.
Don’t let September steal August. Stay here while it’s happening.
What would it look like to be fully present for this last full month of summer?
