The Last Full Week of August
Kris Evergreen here. Monday, and the start of the last full week of August. Summer’s closing act begins now.
There’s a temptation, in the final week of anything, to either rush ahead — mentally skipping to September, to fall, to the next chapter — or to grieve what’s ending before it’s actually ended. Both are ways of not being here for the part that’s still happening.
The alternative is what I’d call finishing with presence. Being in the last week of summer the way you’d want to be in any week: awake to it. The warm mornings are still warm. The long evenings are still long. The season is still fully here, right up until it isn’t.
So this week: no rushing, no pre-grieving. Just presence, and maybe a little extra appreciation for what’s still in season. Start the week with the ten percent, same as ever — and keep your eyes open the whole way through.
Finish with presence. The season is still fully here, right up until it isn’t.
How do you want to spend this last full week of summer?
