One More Golden Saturday
Saturday. One of the last of August, and the light knows it — everything this weekend comes wrapped in that low amber glow that makes ordinary streets look like somewhere you’d want to be from.
No elaborate advice today. Just this: go be in it. Whatever your version of a golden Saturday is — the market, the trail, the porch, the long aimless drive with the windows down — do that. Bring someone if company makes it better. Go alone if solitude does.
Maple and I will be taking the long route this evening, the one past the gardens, at the exact hour when the light comes through sideways and the whole neighborhood glows. She thinks we do it for the smells. I let her believe that.
The season is generous right up to the end. Meet it out there.
