Something Is Blooming Right Now

Late May. The peak of it, really — the moment when spring has fully committed and everything is doing what it waited all winter to do. If you go outside right now and actually look, there is something blooming within fifty feet of wherever you are. Maybe more than one thing. Probably more than you’d expect.

Maple goes absolutely feral in late May. Every walk is a sensory event. The world has simply become too interesting to move through at any pace faster than deeply investigative. I find this both delightful and difficult when I’m trying to get somewhere, which tells you something about me and something about Maple.

Wednesday invitation: go find what’s blooming. Not metaphorically today — literally. Get outside and look at something that grew. Let it remind you that the long, underground work of winter and early spring produces something actual. Something visible. Something worth standing still for.

Something is blooming within fifty feet of wherever you are right now. Go find it.

What’s something currently in bloom — in your garden, your neighborhood, or your own life?
